New research by Monash researcher and YourCH Oral Health Therapist, Mr Tan Nguyen, could prevent tooth decay and improve health.
Published in Health Economics, the study estimates that a national 20 per cent Australian tax on sugary drinks could prevent more than 500,000 dental cavities and increase health equity over 10 years.
Mr Nguyen says that taxes on sugary drinks had increased prices and decreased consumption internationally, making it an effective strategy for improving oral health.
