What is the Child Dental Benefit Scheme?
The Child Dental Benefit Scheme (CDBS) is a Medicare funded program that allows for up to $750 of dental treatment over a 2 year period for 2–17 year olds, if the family is receiving Family Assistance Tax Benefit A.
Children can have their check-ups, fissure sealants, cleaning, fillings, x-rays, extractions and root canals as needed. CDBS excludes orthodontic or cosmetic dental work.
You will not have any out-of-pocket costs as long as you bring your Medicare card to the appointment with you. The bulk bill claim will be processed electronically before you leave the clinic.
